Flashback: On the boat, George Minkowski tells Michael he has a phone call from Walt, but of course it's really from Ben. Ben tells Michael that the reason he is not to blow up the boat (yet, anyway) is that there are innocent people aboard, and they don't know Charles Widmore is a monster. And thus (or so says Ben) Widmore is so very unlike Mr. Benjamin Linus. Ahem. So: Michael is to compile a list of everyone on the boat for Ben. He is also to disable the ship's communications, then the engines, so the boat can't get to the Island. Michael agrees to do so, and Ben says, "Then consider yourself one of the good guys." Uh-huh. Back on the boat, Desmond and Sayid just stare at Michael after he tells his story. "So you're working for Benjamin Linus?" Sayid asks, in a tone that would make any sane person know what's about to happen. Which is: He angrily grabs Michael, frog-marches him and turns him in to the Captain, revealing exactly who he is and who he is working for: "He's a traitor." On the Island, Alex, Karl and Danielle are on their way to the Temple and stop to rest. Karl says he has a bad feeling; what if Ben is just playing them? Alex reassures him that Ben would never want to hurt her. Apparently she's right, because next thing you know, both Karl and Danielle are shot dead by unseen attackers, leaving Alex alone and terrified. She stands up and surrenders, shouting wildly: "I'm Ben's daughter!" |
