Idol: Eliminated

Well, I'm glad to see that Carly Smithson wasn't all that broken up about leaving. She actually seemed thrilled, didn't she? So that's a plus.
Meanwhile, I think Jason continues to woo people with his personality. I loved that after Ryan reminded him that Randy had called his song "a train wreck," Jason just smiled and did the "choo choo" move with his arm. Adorable.
Then there's Brooke. Asked again if she felt her false start last night was the right move, she said, "I do. I kind of went off my instinct and I don't know, stuff happens."
Whatever. All I know is if "stuff happens" a third time with her this season, I'll scream. At her. Through my TV.

So it's Carly (who was pretty outstanding last night) and Syesha (who was incredible). Surprise! Obviously, the show set up the pairings (Brooke and Syesha, Jason and Carly) to make everybody assume the two lowest vote-getters would be Jason and Brooke. They're so clever.

American Idol: Hey, tell us how you really feel

Andrew Lloyd Webber's take on Jason's performance last night: "I don't think Jason would have taken my advice, whatever I'd said. That was probably the most curious song choice I've ever known in my career.
"I didn't want to have to agree with Simon last night -- I think he's really talented -- but my goodness, I don't think he was happy with it. He couldn't have been."
Wow. Rude much?

OK, people: Why haven't you been watching 'Friday Night Lights'?

Because if you're not, you're missing the best show on television, says Sara Mosle over at Slate.com:

Friday Night Lights is also Texas as it's seldom been seen--which is to say, as it really is. ...It's more like The Last Picture Show, 60 years after the cinema closed, without the sexual repression and filmed in sensuous color.

The second season of FNL just came out on DVD, so it's the perfect time to catch up. Our advice: Start with Season 1 so you don't miss anything. We promise you will not be sorry.
