Simon said Jason's rendition of "Memory" felt like the longest two minutes of his life, but I don't think it was that awkward. (A bit awkward, yes.) Still, I think he'll be OK with voters for two reasons: |

Oh, goodness! I so much want Jason to win because he's a local.
But "Memory" is one of the most powerful Broadway songs ever! [Didn't a local Ft. Worth female MAKE IT one of the most powerful Broadway songs ever?] And he CHOSE to under-sing it the way he did?
Fine. That's his style, but ladies and gentlemen Jason fans, he did not show tonight that he can stretch into other styles.
He won't be voted out for this performance, but he didn't help himself this evening at all.

I hope he doesn't get voted off for this, and I agree that he didn't exactly shine. Then again, I'm not familiar enough with Andrew Lloyd Webber's songbook to wish he'd chosen another ditty instead.

How can anyone who calls themselves musicans NOT know that Memories is one of the biggest Broadway songs ever! For goodness sake, expand your repetoire, dear. I was NOT impressed and if Brooke had not started over - I would say that Jason was gone.

Jason was ill--has been ill for a couple of days. Over on the AI boards, it's been noted that on Monday he was taken to a hospital and given shots of some kind. After his performance, he was clearly stopped up--must be a URI or something. Very very brave of him to not use it as an excuse and to step up and do the best job he could.
