The New York Post carried a report yesterday that Friday Night Lights will indeed be back: FNL will return for a third year on NBC after the 13 new episodes have aired on satellite-television provider DirecTV, NBC announced today. The one-year deal allows NBC and DirecTV to share the production costs in order to keep the show on the air. Don't set your DVRs just yet: The series will run weekly on DirecTV's entertainment channel (The 101) beginning Oct. 1, moving to NBC in early 2009.

My wife and I are big fans of FNL and needless to say we are very disappointed about this stupid concept to only air the show to DirecTV subscribers. The producers will suffer from much lower viewership numbers and the fans that can't subscribe to satellite will suffer as well! Dumb move!
