It was time, wasn't it? Even for those of us who adored him on the show have to admit it. Besides, if he'd squeaked by Syesha this week, it could have caused some sort of violent uprising amongst angry viewers. And nobody wants that. |

Dear Jason Castro fans, if you review the DVR file of last night's show, I think you will see that he actually did poorly on purpose [isn't that called "throwing the competition"?]. And look at what he said tonight: "I think it's just getting tough for me. I think my inexperience is coming in."
Show this young man the Welcome Home Celebration he deserves for doing what most of us will never do.

Finally! I don't see how he made it this far in the competition.

It was very obvious to me that Jason wanted to be voted off. He didn't even try last night!

Jason lasted far longer than he should have. He had some good performances early on, but the last few weeks have been, on the whole, dreadful.
David Cook is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of ability, creativity and stage presence. This should not even be a competition from here on out. David Archuleta has a good voice, but every song sounds the same after a while; he's getting very tiresome. Syesha's a cutie with a voice destined for the bright lights of Broadway.

Okay folks, let's call it like it is. Jason is Jason. He has a nice and pleasant voice, but it by no means could stand up to others in the competition. He had to do it in other ways. By my count, he had really only three good performances on the whole show. The rest left us feeling awkward. I by no means fault him for anything he did on the show. I don't think he stopped trying. However, I think he began to realize more and more just how much he was behind the others in terms of ability. He probably started to lose confidence in himself.

How did he last this long???

I think Jason was doing well at first because he wanted to showcase his talent. He is talented and I think will do very well. But then, he realized all of the 'crap' that goes on with American Idol and how that just wasn't his thing...so he started to do more poorly so he would get voted off. I mean, who would want to win American Idol and become the next Rueben Studdard, Taylor Hicks, Fantasia, etc...anyway?

He should never have made it this far! He took this position from people who truly deserved it such as Michael and Carly. He was always terrible to me and I cannot believe he made it this far at all! I wish I didn't have to see that goofy face or horrible dreadlocks again much less hear his boring voice. Sorry...I love the Davids and Syesha. David C is well seasoned, David A is fresh and can molded into a great performer and Syesha...she's come a long way baby! Good luck to you three!! Peace Be With You!

For someone who decided to pick this up last year, the kid did AMAZING! I've downloaded several of his iTunes and thoroughly enjoy listening, his style is very relaxing. BTW... he did a very good studio version of Tambourine Man!
Congratulations Jason!

Be careful what you wish for Idol fans. This show is going to be very vanilla and boring without Jason. David C is the only one left that brings excitement.

There's a professional vocalist and voice coach over on the AI boards who rates the performances each week. She has consistently rated Jason near the top. About "I Shot the Sheriff": (I'm paraphrasing): he had the best pitch of anyone that night. "Forever in Blue Jeans": Jason gets no credit from the judges for showing a 3 octave range. "I Don't Want to Cry": tones were clear and he used all voices: head, chest, and falsetto--quite a range.
The professionals are seeing the talent in Jason--hopefully a producer will as well, and bring out the best in him. He deserves it!!

Jason and a showing of a 3 octave range. . .LOL!
