We hear terrible tales of TiVos cutting off before David Cook was announced as last night's American Idol winner. Did it happen to you? Coincidence or conspiracy?

YES!!! It was "The winner is David.." And "end of program." No kidding. We had to watch what happened later on youtube. The timing was so incredibly bad I just had to laugh, even though we were all upset.

UGH! YES! I knew it was going to happen since as soon as they broughy the envelope out right at 1 hour and 57 minutes in....they announced it and then boom, it shut off. I didn't get to see any reaction or anything.

Since the last 2 years also ran over, I knew to add a few minutes to the timer. Glad I did, or we'd have missed that last song!!

Yes, because the show ran over. Luckily, we had the channel on Fox - we were only watching it through TIVO in a slight delay. So, we were able to back it up and see the full ending.

On the Directv DVR, at least I got "and the winner is...David Cook" and then it stopped. That's what you get with live shows I guess.

Yup, not only did it cut off after David, but Ryan Seacrest's mouth was opening to say the last name "Cook" but it was in the shape of an Ah sound as in Archulleta. We were shocked to see the result was Cook, who we wanted to win. I'd say this is a by product of live TV running over the alloted time, as many Idol shows have run short of recorded time in the past. Next time I'm adjusting TV to run 5 minutes after the sheduled show time!
