We got decent performances by all in the first round, but things got shaky after that. Round Two, which gave our gang control over the songs they chose, was really bad. David A. explored his nonexistent R&B side with Chris Brown's "With You;" Syesha picked "Fever" so she could use a chair as a prop -- and then just sort of walked around it; and David C. hit some gnarly notes during Switchfoot's "Dare You to Move." |

I think that it's really odd that when we voted using our AT&T landline, we got thru almost every time.
Using our Sprint phones we didn't get through once - in two hours.
It's our first time voting this year.

Shoshana, Ryan ALWAYS says, "AT&T users can text your vote to ..." He NEVER mentions ANY OTHER cell phone companies. Wanna know why? 'Cause AT&T has forked over big bucks to be the exclusive cell phone sponsor.

We weren't texting - we were calling. In past years we were able to call in to vote via our cell phone...

My OOPS! I must have been shocked to see someone else with an AT&T landline besides me. Sorry.

By the end of the evening, both of the guys' voices were starting to sound strained and shaky to me. Also, there's been talk on the AI boards that Syesha, who also competed on ABC's The One last year, had performed Fever on the same show. It's ok that she sang something she was familiar with, but I remember Paris Bennett's wonderful version of this song 2 years ago.

This is the worst season of Idol ever -- I have almost lost interest entirely.

In our house, we voted with Sprint and T-Mobile.... no problems.
Ok... Castro gets blasted for singing Memories because it's a song sung by a female... then Simon chooses a Firt Time Ever I Saw Your Face?
Why do the judges criticize the contestants for their song choices when they didn't pick the songs?
Cook and Archuletta by a long shot.

It's really too bad, isn't it? I was on KRLD this morning talking about the show, and afterward I thought, "Man, I sounded so negative." (Syesha wasn't good enough, Archuleta failed at R&B, Cook hit many sour notes, etc.) I need to accentuate the positive more. :)

PROOF OF AMERICAN IDOL FRAUD!!!!
This is the second year in a row that American Idol has had a songwriting contest. Since the contest ended last year I've researched the contestants from last year and this year....FYI there were over 25,000 entries last year at $10.00 for each song. 20 songs were then chosen out of the 25,000 for an online vote. The winner's song is then performed on the American Idol Finale. The problem I have is that one of THIS years Top 20 Finalist is a Co-writer of LAST years Top 20 Winner.
Somebody from American Idol has some explaining to do.
THERE IS A LOT, LOT, LOT MORE!!!!!

That's definitely interesting. What's the person's name? I agree that it seems shady if this is true -- but then again, maybe this guy or girl is just an excellent songwriter. :)
